One of the most aggressive cancer in the World
Leukaemia
Leukaemia is a type of liquid cancer, commonly referred to "blood cancer." Acute leukaemia can be generally classified into two main categories based on its origins: Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) and Acuteymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). Understanding the lineage of the cancer is crucial, as the treatment options and prognosis can vary significantly.

Normal Blood Film
A normal full blood picture, examined under a microscope, will display disc-shaped structures known as red blood cells (RBCs) that have a normal size and density with a central pallor. It will also reveal various types of white blood cells (WBCs) and scattered small dots representing platelets.
Acute Leukaemia
White blood cells (WBC), especially granulocytic differentials, transform into large, fragile cells known as blast cells, which have distorted nuclear structures These ineffective cells can impair the function of bone marrow. An abundance of blasts, typically greater than 50, may lead symptoms of hyperleukocytosis.

Bone Marrow Aspiration & Trephine studies
It is a necessary procedure for making an accurate diagnosis by evaluating the blood-producing factory. This process includes obtaining a marrow sample and a small piece of bone (trephine). It will be performed in a ward setting using local anesthesia, mild sedation, and intravenous pain relief.
